Walking in Amberley

Disclaimer: I rarely publish posts that are purely personal in nature. I often find it a difficult balance to focus on my career and my experiences as a young professional, while simultaneously using this blog as a way to document the little (and not so little) things  that might very well make these years, the best years of my life. So although I typically like to keep my personal life “mini-skirt length” on the blog… long enough to cover the details, but short enough to keep it interesting, I couldn’t help myself this time… Enjoy!

Back in December, Jeremy (Josh’s future brother in law) came to us in confidence with the beginnings of an idea for a proposal. A little background… Jeremy (henceforth referred to as the groom) and Rachel, Josh’s sister (henceforth referred to as the bride), have known eachother for the better part of their lives. The pair met 20ish years ago at a family wedding, where they walked down the aisle hand-in-hand, he as a junior groomsman and her as a junior bridesmaid. The wedding was held in the backyard of the house where Josh’s grandmother had raised Josh’s mom, aunt and uncles and where he and his sisters used to spend their summers playing in the sprawling lawn. Needless to say, the house holds many memories for the bride’s family.

Fast forward 20 years, and the pair is reintroduced to one another through Jeremy’s aunt. 4 years, 18 family wedding photos and 6 dozen bouquets of roses and tulips later, the groom is down on one knee. The proposal story is best told in pictures.

It's happening! It's really happening!

It’s happening! It’s really happening!

The driveway and path to the backyard was lined with old family photos and flowers.

Walking up the driveway. She still had no idea!

And Rachel is crying! SUCCESS!!!!

20 years prior, walking hand-in-hand down the aisle.

The bride and groom were surrounded by 3 generations as he got down on one knee!

15 minute monologue from the groom ensues!

Thanks to the groom for including us on such a special day. Looking forward to taking part in the upcoming festivities. Currently auditioning for the role of flower girl!!! I LOOK FAB IN PASTELS.

Wishing all my readers a spring season surrounded by loved ones, blossoming buds and plenty of happy memories.

P.S. In other news, happy belated birthday baby Bailey Michaela. I’ll spare you the paparazzi and keep your picture off the blog (for now…).

P.P.S. In other, other news— I’m having a 25th birthday party this Saturday and you’re all invited!! Seriously, no seriously.
